What's Concept and Creation like?
The Concept and Creation exchange programme is a collaboration between the IT and Communication departments. The main goal is to create and market your own digital concept, such as an app, platform or game. This is a full-time bachelor's level programme worth 30 ECTS credits. Below you can read how the course is structured.
Project (24 ECTS credits)
You work in multidisciplinary teams with students from different schools, disciplines and parts of the world. You will formulate your goal together and everybody contributes using his or her own expertise, such as app development, UX design or marketing.
You start with brainstorming about digital media concepts for the problem you came up with. Two of your best ideas will be researched on feasibility, target group and market potential. These detailed plans then will be presented to a Dragon’s Den. The winning idea will be further developed. How far your start-up will take you, is up to you as a team. The more energy, passion and time you put into your concept, the more you will learn about making it in the real world. Your aim is to at least have a working prototype by the end of the semester, but preferably a ‘ready to ship’ product that you can put on the market with an external partner.
In this programme you will learn about:
- developing a concept from scratch
- applying your skills in a creative and flexible way
- managing of (social) media management
- design thinking
- deepening your skill set by diving into your field of expertise
- managing of information management (how to find the right tools to teach yourself online)
Shape your own semester
In Concept and Creation, every project is different. This means that the learning opportunities can vary as well. It is up to you how you shape your semester. To help you with your projects, a number of workshops can be attended. Some are mandatory, others are elective (e.g. leadership or financial management). You may also learn skills from other fields, if you want to challenge yourself. If so, you need to take an active role in pursuing your goals. This programme is all about autonomy. You are the director of your own learning cycle!
Complete your exchange semester or year by taking one or two cross-departmental modules. You will receive ECTS credits when you complete a module successfully.
