Want to know how to pronounce Scheveningen?
The Dutch Language modules have been especially designed for international students who will start their studies at Windesheim. The aim of the modules is very practical: to provide you with language skills you can use during your stay and to make it easier to interact with your Dutch friends and classmates. You will be taught communication and grammar up to a basic or intermediate level through practical training sessions and guided self-study. The modules can be taken consecutively: Dutch Language I in the first block of the semester, Dutch Language II in the second block of the semester.

Dutch language I: introduction (3 ECTS credits)
This entry-level module (part-time) covers a range of everyday situations, such as meeting someone, talking about the languages you speak, small talk, asking for information, shopping at the market, asking for directions and what time is it. The grammar you learn serves to help you structure the sentences, as well as providing you with some basic knowledge about the language.
Learning outcomes
This module aims to increase your active and receptive Dutch language skills up to basic level, with a focus on communicative skills in small talk, the correct use of vocabulary and grammar in sentences, as well as providing you with more knowledge about the language.

Dutch language II: intermediate (3 ECTS credits)
Completed Dutch language 1 or do you already have some basic knowledge of the Dutch language? This intermediate module (part-time) covers a range of slightly more challenging topics in which Dutch language skills will be learned and practiced. The course aim is again very practical and covers situations such as going out, shopping, phone calls, asking for directions and sightseeing. Moreover, various aspects of Dutch grammar will be discussed, including tenses, word order, compound sentences and the use of comparatives and superlatives.
Learning outcomes
The learning outcomes of this module are to increase your active and receptive Dutch language skills up to intermediate level, with a focus on communicative skills in small talk, the correct use of vocabulary and grammar in sentences, as well as providing you with more knowledge about the language.
