Innovation Research Competences for Urban Development
Engage citizens for sustainable innovation
The city and the urban region harbour major future challenges. There are economic and social issues and at the same time cities face challenges in the field of construction, sustainability and energy transition. In this module, you will deliver a prototype of a solution for a real life urban challenge. These challenges are selected from contemporary ongoing projects in which the university is engaged.
This module is scheduled at the same time as Dutch Society and Drama and Improvisation. In addition there is every now and then an overlap with Economic Mindsets and Intercultural Awareness. They can therefore not be taken simultaneously.

Innovation Research Competences for Urban Development (5 ECTS credits)
You will design and deliver a small-scale urban innovation idea/concept that improves the wellbeing and welfare of citizens and visitors of Almere, a new town in the vicinity of Amsterdam. Your idea should be backed by practice-based research and fits the specific needs of the city. Our experienced Urban Innovation teachers will help you develop this innovative idea through a well-structured learning path in which creative and innovative techniques for doing practice-based research are learned.
