What will you contribute to a new web app?
The Web and Analytics programme is all about web development across the full spectrum. A successful web app is after all not based on good programming alone. You need to think carefully about the infrastructure it is based on and how you meet users’ needs by optimizing and maximizing your app’s intuitiveness. All while making sure that (corporate) targets are achieved because your app is marketed in the right way and users keep coming back for more. At Windesheim you will learn this on the job, developing and marketing a web application together with clients.
What's Web and Analytics like?
The assignments in this bachelor's level programme (full-time, 30 ECTS credits) may vary in nature and focus. They may consist of specification of the right requirements, infrastructure design and setup, building a new web application, digital marketing of the web application, analyzing success and improving an existing application.
-
-
International course (1 ECTS credits)
The student can give a presentation of 30 minutes for a mixed audience about the differences in (inter)cultural aspects between The Netherlands and their home country.
-
Project (24 ECTS credits)
You will be working on a web application for a real company in a team of 3 to 5 students. Together you will work on the research, design, development, testing and marketing of the web app.
The project
All the assignments are web oriented (ranging from an application to e-commerce platform), and your end product is to be used or is already in use by the company for their own employees or by their users. There is only one main requirement: at the end of the semester there must be a working web app that realizes the goals that you have set with your client. Your project will take 32 hours a week for 20 weeks and will be executed at the company’s location or in an agile real-life setting. Your team will be multidisciplinary. This means that each student comes from a different Bachelor’s degree and will therefore bring in their own expertise. So perhaps your future team consists of a software engineer, web developer, manager, business administrator, infrastructure designer, security specialist, social media expert and/or marketeer! Which role will you fulfil…?
Shape your own semester
Every project is different in the Web and Analytics programme. Within the assignment you might encounter topics like requirement engineering, user research, legal aspects, security issues, marketing or data science. This means that learning opportunities can vary as well. It is up to you how you choose to shape your semester.
As part of the project there are coaching sessions, workshops and regular sessions in which you and your fellow students share your obtained knowledge and progress. Some workshops are obligatory (e.g. project management and planning), others are elective (such as scrum, growth hacking or game design). The workshops are not graded individually, but are aimed to contribute to the success of your project. Company visits and guest lectures might also be a part of the electives. Besides this, you will also pick two Professional Skill courses (3 ECTS each course) from our list of electives (e.g. Leadership, Financial Management or 7 Habits).
