My passion is helping others. I know it sounds cliché, but I can assure you it’s true. I’ve always been extremely fond of volunteering work because it made me feel part of a larger group with a common purpose to make something better. Back home, I spend most of my time working with organizations that strive to make a change to a small island. Seeing the results of what we did was always a motivation to keep on going because it made others happy and it made me feel as part of something bigger than just myself.

I am from an island in the Caribbean called Sint Maarten, and it’s honestly an island that could use some change. I’ve chosen this study because it is allowing me to learn the things I need to be able to go back home and make a difference. One major issue for example that I want to work on in the future would be the disposal of garbage. The reason why this is such an issue is because all the trash around the island is collected, gathered on a huge pile and set on fire every now and then. This issue is not something to be underestimated and I want to put my focus to this once I get the chance! This is where I believe I can start making a change.
