Keuzegids HBO 2027: Number of Top-Rated Programmes at Windesheim Increases
In the newly published Keuzegids HBO 2027, Windesheim ranks fourth among the Netherlands’ universities of applied sciences. The number of top-rated programmes, programmes that perform well above the national average, has increased from ten to fourteen.
Windesheim University of Applied Sciences continues to deliver high-quality education and has maintained a stable position among the country’s leading broad-based universities of applied sciences for many years. While the institution ranks slightly lower than last year, the results remain a source of satisfaction. The combination of consistency and quality is clearly reflected in the number of top-rated programmes.
No fewer than fourteen programmes, four more than last year, have been recognized by the Keuzegids as top programmes, achieving scores of 75 points or higher. These programmes are spread across a wide range of disciplines, underlining the strength of educational quality throughout the institution. More than 70% of Windesheim’s programmes score above the national average for higher professional education, which stands at 60 points.
Student appreciation
Earlier this year, the results of the National Student Survey (NSE) already showed that Windesheim students value their university highly. Among all universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands, Windesheim students reported the highest overall satisfaction. Factors contributing to this positive assessment include the quality of teaching staff, academic support and guidance, and the attention given to students’ personal circumstances.
Student satisfaction is also reflected in the Studying with a Support Need Annual Report 2025 published by the Dutch Centre of Expertise for Inclusive Education (ECIO). Among the country’s large universities of applied sciences, Windesheim recorded the highest percentage of students who feel their special circumstances are understood and taken into account.
Combined with the results of the Keuzegids HBO 2027, this broad student appreciation paints a positive picture and is a source of pride for the institution.
Building on forty years of quality
At the same time, Windesheim sees opportunities to further strengthen its performance. Student success indicators show a positive trend: both progression rates to the second year and the percentage of students completing their studies within five years have increased.
Although these developments are encouraging, these figures still remain below the level achieved by the institutions ranked in the top three. Windesheim therefore aims to continue building on the strong foundation established over the past forty years, further enhancing educational excellence while remaining accessible to every student.
