Welcome to the fast-moving and international world of app development. You are going to develop a fully functioning application for a real company. The focus is on implementation of the app, leading to maximum User Experience on Android or iOs. Learn on the job and collaborate with students from different professional backgrounds. By the end of the programme, you will have final product that is ready to be marketed, published and used by a real user group.
What's Mobile Solutions like?
Theory will be learned on the job in the bachelor's level programme (full-time, 30 ECTS credits). To back this up, the semester is demand-driven: workshops are offered just-in-time to support specific and current issues. Some examples of workshops are Project Management, Interview Techniques, Consultancy, Time Planning, Stakeholder Analysis, Growth Hacking and Research. The workshop results are directly applicable in the assignment.

Project (24 ECTS credits)
In a multidisciplinary team of three to four students, you will develop an app from A-to-Z.
You will learn how to analyze, research, design, realize and test all the artefacts of the development process, in order to deliver a good quality, user-friendly app.The assignment
The assignments may vary in nature. There are only two main requirements: it must be a hybrid or native app and yield a working (prototype) product. You will choose your team, client and technology stack. The technology stack can comprise native app development or hybrid using frameworks like Ionic or Xamarin.
Topics like requirements engineering, user experience research, legal aspects, security issues, marketing, data science, iterative and incremental development, testing, use of sensors are addressed during the assignment. As every project is different, the learning opportunities can vary as well. It is up to you, supported by your Windesheim coach, how you shape your semester. The assignment is mainly conducted at the client's premises and partly at Windesheim’s IT Community. You work at least four days a week at a client company in a multidisciplinary team of three to four students, each bringing their own expertise. At the end of the semester you present your app at the Winnovation Expo.
Learning opportunities
To help you with your project, a number of workshops are available. Some are obligatory (e.g. project management, consulting skills), others are optional (such as scrum, growth hacking, interview techniques or game design). The workshops are not graded individually, but are aimed to contribute to the success of your project. During the semester, you will participate in knowledge-sharing sessions to ensure that knowledge of innovative techniques is passed on to the other teams. Company visits and guest lectures might also be a part of this elective semester programme.

- maths support for elementary schools
- child diabetes support controlling an internal insulin pump
- solutions using beacons
- cultural exchange between international students
- sports monitor
- flooding forecasts
Open to all bachelor’s degree students
Mobile Solutions is one of the elective broadening semesters of our regular IT degree (HBO-ICT), but this semester is accessible to students who want to know about app development. This gives you the opportunity to experience other professional environments.

Requirements and application
You must be a third- or fourth-year student in a relevant field of study with at least 90 ECTS credits. A motivation and/or application letter and grade list will determine your admission to this exchange programme. Besides this, you need to have English-language skills at B2 level.

Learning Agreement
The Learning Agreement is a crucial document for the recognition of a study period abroad. It is an agreement between you, your university and Windesheim.
