On 13 and 14 June Windesheim Honours College organizes a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) event. This exciting gathering will invite us to reflect on the roles we can all play for a more sustainable environment.
What is the role of Education in sustainable development? What is the role of Personal Development? Creativity? Partnerships? We seek to answer these different questions through multiple sessions including keynote speeches, workshops, presentations, and other interactive sessions.
We will have several break-out sessions with a different focus in addressing the SDG's. More information about these sessions can be found in the programme below. The main themes for discussion will be:

On Thursday 13 June, Hugo von Meijenfeldt, SDG Coördinator for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will give the opening keynote. Other speakers will include Windesheim Honours College Alumna, Morgaine Gerlach, currently working for the European Parliament and comedian Greg Shapiro, who will describe with humour our wicked present. Dr. Kaouthar Darmoni will give the first keynote on Friday 14 June, on “The future is feminine...healing the universe.” Later Dr. Olivia Bina speaks about 'The Future of Universities'. We close the event with a live connection with the NASA Mission Control Centre! From there,Mars 2020 Mission Design & Navigation Manager, Fernando Abilleira, will talk to us about "The challenges of Landing on Mars. From curiosity to InSight."
All sessions will be held on the Campus of Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in Zwolle. Most sessions are in English. Students, educators,Windesheim’s international exchange partners, and staff of businesses, NGOs, and government agencies are welcome to attend.

1. Brainbusting breakfast
Interactive debate on “Transition of the economic and financial system towards a more sustainable and inclusive society: Is something wrong with SDG 8?”
Participants: Students representing WeAll YOUTH; representant from Global Alliance for Banking on Values; Suzan Massier (Senior Consultant for Banking for Food Inspiration Centre at Rabobank); Sander Tideman (Founding partner of Flow Foundation and Flow Impact Fund, author of Mind over Matter); Heico van der Blonk (Lector NICE, Circular Economy at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences) and Bram Adema, Managing Director at CFP Green Buildings.
2. SDG Generation Showcase- Open Space
During the day everyone is welcome to take a look at the work and insights of the SDG Generation. Students from different programmes and disciplines, will be sharing their stories on SDGs through different formats. You can find a detailed overview in the app of which options there are. 3. Keynotes:
Dr. Kaouthat Darmoni: “The future is feminine.... Inspiring session Healing the universe”
Dr. Darmoni is a an academician holding a PhD from the Sorbonne University (Paris) on Leadership. Her views on FeMale Leadership and Feminine Capital became viral with her TedTalks, where she is able to inspire the audience through music and dance to connect with the source of our feminine qualities. She has become an influencer and a renown international speaker in topics related to leadership and gender issues. She is developing an educational programme about The Art of Being Feminine. She will be inspiring attendees and helping us reconnect with a future which seems to need more of our FeMale skills.
Dr. Olivia Bina: “Interdisciplinarity: The Future of Universities and the Universe”
Dr. Bina is the principal researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon and Adjunt Professor at the Department of Georgraphy and Resource Management of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Because of her personal and professional interest in understanding our changing relationship with nature and how that relates to the global challenges, Olivia took the lead of the EU funded project INTREPID Cost. This is a 27 country network with the overall aim to better understand how to achieve more efficient and effective interdisciplinary research in Europe, in order to enhance our capacity to meet contemporary global (urban) challenges characterized by increasing complexity and uncertainty.
Fernando Abilleira: “The Challenges of Landing in Mars. From Curiosity to InSight”
Connecting live from the Nasa Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Fernando Abilleira, Mars 2020 Mission Design and Navigation Manager, will tell us about the complexity of landing in other planets. He will describe the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and the role that curiosity plays in understanding more about us as humans and our need for moving beyond our own planet.
